How about a few recommendations? I am by no means an expert on the food scene in Rome (Unlike Katie Parla). It was a quick trip and I tried my best to eat well. No time to waste on bad food, right? The nice thing about all of Italy is that even your simple corner store sandwich is going to be legit, the quality of cured meats and cheeses in this country is obviously amazing. No oscar meyer here folks.

I had a huge compiled list of recommendations from friends, travel magazines, foodie publications, etc. The problem with this is... while traveling you can have a real hit or miss experience. Your pal may of had an awesome bowl of pasta ten years ago but since then, they could of lost a chef, changed ownership etc. How reliable are these recommendations from people who dont actually live there? Sure you can visit all the super classic establishments that have been around for 100 years and are written up everywhere but for the best food? I found that asking the locals, food bloggers and expats was the way to go. You can always trust a place with a line out the door, chances are its killer. Here are a couple of my favorites.

Roscioli | Via Dei Giubbonari 21

Forno Roscioli | Via dei Chiavari 34

Caff Propaganda | Via Claudia, 15/19 (Via Marco Aurelio)

Sant'Eustachio Il Caff | Piazza di Sant'Eustachio, 82 (Via della Dogana Vecchia)

Pizzarium | Via della Meloria 43

La Scala | Piazza della Scala 58

Volpetti | Via Marmorata 47
